Your baby is starting to become increasingly independent in their movement in space, and in the way they bump into different things – including stairs. Ascending and descending stairs doesn’t have to be practiced on a long staircase. This skill is also relevant for stepping on and off the sidewalk, for example. In this video we will learn different ways your toddler can climb up or go down stairs. In the beginning of the process you will see your baby use their arms for stability while ascending and descending stairs or slanted surfaces. Later on they will learn to stabilize themselves and deal with new challenges while standing on their feet only, and using both sides of their body.

Language has become significant in the communication between you and your child, and in this process we will link contact, language, and action together. This will serve your baby in communicating with themselves, with their surroundings, and in recognizing their body parts. At this stage your baby already feels more confident in their abilities to move around. As for their walking, it’s important to challenge them with various surfaces. This strengthens their balancing system and increases their confidence in all things related to movement in space, as well as playing with other children. With that said, it is our goal to continue to instill our children with important rituals such as diverse play with the same object for long periods of time, and return to previous developmental stages. At this age, building confidence is imperative; it leads to future capabilities and developments, such as cleaning up after playing a game and before starting a new one, and so on.

As your baby begins to walk, they gradually gain confidence. Balancing while standing and walking is possible due to reflexes that activate both the muscular and skeletal systems. In this learning process your child attempts to walk. Through trial and error, and their body’s responses, they will eventually walk properly. At first your baby may frequently fall, but will thereby learn, acquire confidence and improve their walking. In this video we will create an environment that is different from your baby’s usual environment at home.
